My family's favorite breakfast place in The Woodlands
Tucked in The Plazas at Alden Bridge (across from the Alden Bridge Shopping Center) sits my family’s favorite breakfast place. It’s a place where everyone there knows our names. They know my kids love chocolate milk, my husband takes his coffee black, and my favorite waitress knows I have a soft spot for a piping hot caramel macchiato. It’s a place where we sometimes have to push two tables together to accommodate our large family of seven but it never seems like an inconvenience. And if you come on a weekday morning early enough, it’s a place where you’ll see a group of men gathered in the back corner reminiscing about “the good ol’ days” over coffee and pancakes. It’s my favorite place to eat breakfast in The Woodlands.
Dosey Doe has long been regarded as the place to go for great live music in The Woodlands, but if you’ve missed an opportunity to eat breakfast at the COFFEESHOP location, you’re missing out on something special. Each person who works there takes special care in knowing you and your family, not just in getting your order right.
The menu has a variety of options, from pancakes or waffles with chocolate chips to a giant breakfast burrito that may very well be the best in the area. The Hillbilly Benedict is chicken fried steak, eggs and a biscuit covered in gravy. You can have pastries or empanadas with your breakfast or just sit at the small counter and enjoy a cup of coffee. Also, it’s not just another run-of-the-mill cup of coffee they serve at Dosey Doe; it’s delicious, robust and flavorful coffee that they roast daily. For those who enjoy the coffee so much they can’t think of missing a day of it, you can even buy a bag to take home.
It’s not a big, extravagant restaurant. It’s simple. It’s relatively small. But for what it lacks in size it makes up for in heart and tasty food. On days when I’m running around town, I can go through the drive thru and get coffee and a bite to eat to go.
I’ve also got a secret for those of you who are reading this and are waiting for the next available morning to give them a try - go before 9 a.m. I am convinced that The Woodlands doesn’t truly come alive until after 9 a.m., so if you think you’ll have to fight off crowds or wait for a table, take it from a momma with a large amount of mouths to feed - go before 9 a.m. You’ll be able to pick from a booth or a table, or maybe even a spot at the counter. For as big as The Woodlands is, we don’t have many restaurants that aren’t chains. Dosey Doe COFFEESHOP in Alden Bridge is one of our family’s favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch because when we walk in, we know we won’t only get a great meal, but we’re going to get unparalleled service. And to top it off, we get to support a family-owned local business.
Did I mention they also serve lunch? Chances are, if you come in for breakfast you’ll leave so full you won’t need lunch, but in case you have a hankering for a big lunch, the Alden Bridge COFFEESHOP is open for lunch as well.
Wondering what my favorite breakfast meal is at Dosey Doe? It’s the three egg omelette with spinach, Monterey Jack cheese, and bell peppers. All this talk of Dosey Doe food has me hungry. And craving coffee.
