Pet lovers to party and help homeless pets at OPA's first annual Fiesta and Fajita Cook-off
CONROE, TX -- Operation Pets Alive (OPA) is throwing the first-ever Fiesta and Fajita Cook-off this Saturday, May 25 at Heritage Place Park in Conroe from 1 - 7 p.m. Whether you love to help save homeless pets or you just love to party, you won’t want to pass up the chance to join in the fun.
Activities for the whole family, including your beloved furry family members, will keep smiling all day. There are just too many things to name them all.
Food: Enjoy mouth-watering fajita tastings and crisp churros along with many options from the food truck vendors. Try something from the OPA Bake Sale if you have a sweet tooth.
Music: Listen to live music performances by Megan Kelley, Troy Ita, and Reggie Bruhn. Cheer on the students in the Klein Oak High School Mariachi Ensemble. Watch dance performances by Ballet Folklorico Herencia Mexicana de Houston and other groups.
Pets: Houston Disc Dogs will be hosting an outdoor lure course! Any dog can participate since no special skills are required. Just bring your pup, and for a small donation, you can watch your four-legged friend perform! Dress your pet in a creative costume and participate in the pet parade and costume contest. Registration for the pet parade is $5. Of course, this event wouldn’t be complete without a pet adoption center. If you may be able to offer a needy pet a home, please stop by. The entire event is all about fun, but you can also take advantage of the Low-Cost Vaccination and Microchip Clinic from 1 - 5 p.m. or visit the Spay and Neuter Information Booth to learn more.
Kids: Children will love showing off their pets and seeing all the other furry creatures at this event. Other activities geared toward children will keep them busy, too. Face painting and balloon animals will bring joy to their young hearts.
Fun: You might not be able to resist a stop at the Pet Kissing Booth when you see it. Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win some fantastic prizes. Tickets are just a $5 donation each and you need not be present to win. Online ticket sales will end Friday, May 24 at noon. Tickets will also be offered for purchase at the festival.
Shopping: Browse the artisan vendor booths featuring ‘South of the Border,’ pet-related and other items.
Every dollar raised at this event goes directly to fund the life-saving programs of Operation Pets Alive! Your participation directly impacts the lives of our community's homeless pets. Plan to attend on Saturday and show your support for the first annual Fiesta and Fajita Cook-off!
