AUSTIN, TX - Have you ever had a package stolen off your doorstep? If so, you know the heartache of such a horrible act.

A new bill, House Bill 37, was recently signed into law by Governor Gregg Abbot and would make it a felony to steal packages and other mail. The bill, set to take effect on September 1, 2019, carries a punishment of up to 10 years in prison and fines of $10,000 or more.

As always, if you notice your packages being stolen off of your porch or the porch of your neighbor, it's always a good idea to call the police right away.
