THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Mark your calendars now to attend the FREE 2020 Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, a virtual celebration of the arts! Sign up here and be eligible to win a FREE SWAG BAG! Set for the weekend of October 17 & 18, with a kickoff Preview Party on the evening of the October 16 at 6 pm, the Festival will bring you up close and personal with over 100 fine artists and craftspeople LIVE from their virtual booths.
With just a click you can visit with the artists, see their body of work, and make online purchases. This enticing shopping experience will be interspersed with musical interludes from local musicians, panel discussions and interviews with artists, children’s hands-on activities and much more!
Meet the Who’s Who of the local art scene at the Friday night Preview Party presented by The Woodlands Compounding Pharmacy. Join our guests in a glass of Stella Artois while Emcee Alex Bunch welcomes you from his living room. From there, Alex will introduce you to TWAC Board President Dr. Maria Holmes, Executive Director Jenny Carattini-Wright and Visit The Woodlands President Nick Wolda.
Special guests will include 2020 Student Art Scholarship Winner Rylee Hollis, a senior at The Woodlands College Park HS, and major Festival sponsors. ARTFEEL creator and blogger Nickole Bobley will lead us on a virtual tour of the four newest Art Benches in TWAC’s 24-piece collection. Along the way, these colorful local personalities will toast to all things artful and draw tickets for the fantastic raffle prizes to include the original work, “Hidden in the Pines, Summer Tanagers” by Featured Artist Christina Smith, valued at $4,000 (pictured above).
And wait, there’s more – don’t forget to check out the Silent Auction items that will be shared through our website beginning October 14th. The auction prizes include art from festival artists and local artists, weekend getaways, event tickets, and gift certificates to restaurants and personal services. The winners of the Auction items will be notified by email. The URL link for the party and silent auction will be emailed and available from the website on October 14th.
Despite the COVID 19 pandemic, we have rallied the community to help us build a virtual arts festival in October. This will by no means support what we do in normal times, but we hope that we can continue to impact young lives and spark creativity and passion for art and opportunities for young people – and we would LOVE YOUR HELP!
The artists are generously donating 10% of their profits to TWAC during the Festival. Your art purchases and participation in the silent auction will bring us much-needed funds to continue our educational outreach programs and annual student scholarships. To date, we have awarded nearly $300,000 in scholarships since the Festival’s inception 15 years ago.
Along with our major sponsorship partners, individual donors and Friends of the Council, we are hoping to recoup some of the funds lost during the pandemic.
Thank you for your continued support! See you at the festival!
