Classes Next Week and Upcoming Events (June 21st - June 25th)

We hope you are relaxing into the Summer schedule. Sleeping in…lighter traffic…If you have not been by to see us in a while, this is a great time to drop by Canopy for a visit! You have probably noticed over the last few weeks, Kate Mahan has been sending out our newsletters as I have been preparing to go on maternity leave. It is with great excitement, and sadness, that this will be my last newsletter to send out for the next 3 months! My last day here at Canopy is Friday. I will miss each and every one of you dearly, and have no doubt Canopy is in the very capable hands of Kate and our volunteers. I will see you all in September! 

As we kick-off the Summer some of our class times will change. Pilates in-person class will now be held on Mondays at 1:30pm. We have recently new in-person yoga class on Fridays at 10am. We are delighted to be adding 2 new breast cancer support groups available virtually over zoom, held 3rd Thursday 3-4pm and 2nd Wednesday 12-1pm! 

Please note that Canopy’s mask policy has not changed. At this time, guests must still wear a mask unless actively eating/drinking/exercising. Please call our reception desk with any questions or to reserve a seat in a class (#713-897-5939). 

As we all continue our transition to a “new normal” Canopy continues to offer virtual support groups and wellness classes each week. Currently our virtual support programs include Breast cancer support groups, Spanish classes, Gentle yoga classes, Bible study, and Life in between support group for stage IV survivors. If you would like more information about virtual classes please contact our reception desk at #713-897-5939. 

We are also excited to offer free counseling & support services by our oncology social work counselor. Services include counseling for emotional support and adjustment, planning, advance directives, practical assistance resources, and help finding support for family. Canopy welcomes anyone affect by cancer, and all services free of charge (thanks to generous philanthropic support). We continue to operate from 10AM to 4PM Monday through Thursday, and 10AM to 2PM on Fridays through the summer (end of July). We anticipate the expansion of our morning hours in August! Also, please wear a mask at all times unless eating/drinking or in an exercise class.
