Job Description

Coordinate and perform patient scheduling, receive and greet visitors, answer and handle incoming calls, coordinate the referral process, enter billing information into system and transmit claims.

Responsibilities:
Perform reception duties; greet patients and visitors; assist patients with check-in; answer phone and take messages. Coordinate referrals; assess patient's referral eligibility; document eligibility; identify and document network providers; complete paperwork and transmit information for authorized referrals; assist patients in setting appointments; maintain referral log. Enter charges into system; ensure patient demographic and payor information is verified and entered into billing system; enter office and hospital charges and receipts into billing system; balance charges and payments received daily; ensure superbills are complete; monitor and correct 'patient type discrepancy, on hold, do not file and write off' reports. Monitor patient information and other practice data; verify patient demographic information with each visit and enter into medical record and billing system; verify and document coverage of services; monitor 'bad telephone number' report and submit corrections; monitor returned mail and flag medical record. Process patient payments. Schedule appointments; verify next day appointments; accommodate walk-ins. Provide operational support. Maintain integrity of medical records.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of general office tasks, confidentiality, filing, medical terminology, CPT coding and managed care referral processes required. Knowledge of related OSHA and Joint Commission guidelines and requirements also required. The ability to provide excellent customer service, act in a professional manner, type, file, use a multi-line telephone, computer, fax, copier and adding machine also required.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum one (1) year related experience required.
