THIS IS A LIVE-IN POSITION

Job Summary: Provide assistance, ministry, and support to young adults in the Hope’s Path Residential Home while maintaining a positive and nurturing environment conducive to their emotional, spiritual, and educational growth as they work towards their goals in the program. Oversee the overall organization, upkeep, and daily tasks of the home including health, safety, and well-being of each resident. Responsible for the daily oversight of the interns to include promotion of independent living skills through training, guidance, and counseling.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist with welcoming new residents into the program and completing the orientation process to ensure the immediate and ongoing needs and concerns of the resident are met in a compassionate manner and that they are introduced to all program youth, staff, volunteers, and aware of all house rules/expectations.

Build close on-going working rapport the residents to support and encourage them in their daily living and goal achievement. Model positive conflict resolution and life skills to the young adults in the program through hands on teaching and interventions with the direction of the Program Director.

Assist with day-to-day oversight of resident programming and holding them accountable to program structure, guidelines, and requirements.

Serve as a liaison to volunteers in the home by welcoming them, introducing them to the residents, giving them a tour, and showing appropriate kindness and assistance as needed.

Provide daily progress notes, and other relevant information to the Program Director/Case Manager.

Assist residents in the home with the scheduling, planning, and transportation of individual and program activities. Provide assistance and supervision to maintain the safety and welfare of the residents at all times.

Serve as the primary house manager and frequently inspect the house for any damage/safety concerns and report maintenance issues to the Program Director in a timely manner.

Actively work to develop a sense of unity and camaraderie that will allow residents to have fun together and to learn from each other. Work cooperatively with residents to ensure an environment that values individual differences and respects the rights and opinions of all residents through open communication, appropriately confronting each other with concerns and issues.

Other Job Responsibilities:

Convey kindness and compassion for every young adult in the program with dignity and respect while providing inspirational support and encouragement both inside and outside the home.

Support a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all residents, staff, donors and volunteers of Hope’s Path and report any unsafe conditions or concerns immediately.

Follow and adhere to all Hope’s Path policies and procedures; enforce all house rules and structure.

Participate in continuing education opportunities, trainings, and meetings relevant to this position as provided by the Program Director.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Skills & Experience: 1+ year(s) experience working with, ministering to, and/or teaching at- risk, homeless, or foster youth/young adults in a school, church, or youth program setting. Strong ability to actively and empathetically listen, minister, & biblically counsel with those experiencing crisis situations while demonstrating Christian values/ethics/confidentiality. Strong administrative and organizational abilities as well as high level of knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions, trauma informed care principles, motivational interviewing, and problem solving skills. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and periodic drug screenings.

Equipment Used: Phone, copy machine, computer, scanner, fax machine, email, social media, projector and other basic office equipment/supplies. Need to have working knowledge in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Excel) and basic windows based programs. Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and current liability insurance required.

Work Environment: Office, classroom, outdoor areas, and other common areas of the home as well as schools, churches, and off property at events and activities. Exposure to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, drug usage, verbal and physical abuse and/or other emergency situations relative to the population are possible. Casual and appropriate dress attire and comfortable shoes should be worn daily in correlation to the scheduled activities of the day.

Relations with Others: Ability to communicate effectively with persons from a variety of ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Able to de-escalate angry and combative individuals effectively and strong conflict resolution skills necessary. May also interact with donors, volunteers, social workers, and staff from other agencies.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk around for long periods of time, and interact with young adults in the program. Ability to move freely up and down stairs and around building inside and outside. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Mental Requirements: Able to organize and coordinate daily tasks in the performance of the job duties. Ability to perform multiple tasks, goals and projects simultaneously. Ability to identify and handles stressful and potentially explosive behavior from young adults in the program.

Other: Able to support through word and action the mission, vision, and core values of Hope’s Path at all times to the residents, staff members, volunteers, donors, and other individuals and agencies in the community. Hope’s Path is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization.

Compensation:

$20K-$25K/yr plus FREE housing and food
