Themed “Heart Rock,” this year’s Heart Ball sure to rock some hearts for benefit of the American Heart Association.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- For those who like to rock, mark your calendar to attend the Heart Ball on Saturday, February 21 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center.

Benefiting the American Heart Association’s Montgomery County Division, the annual gala raises funds to support lifesaving research and educational programs to fight cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Themed “Heart Rock” this year, co-chairs Debra F. Sukin, CEO of St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, and Marissa Mettauer, wife of cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Mark M. Mettauer, say the planning committee has many exciting elements in store for guests and is sure to rock their hearts.

In addition to a performance by the nine-piece band “Fried Ice Cream,” there will be Las Vegas rock-n-roll impersonators to heighten the evening’s entertainment. Cocktails and a silent auction session begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a live auction, dinner, and dancing at 8 p.m. The auction committee has already secured many unique and valuable auction items.

This year’s Heart Ball will honor The Mended Hearts, a support group for those who have fought cardiovascular disease and stroke, and their founder Bob Turnbull.

Top sponsors this year include Heart Rockin’ Friends, Conroe Regional Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital – The Woodlands, St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, Woodforest National Bank, Anadarko, Aramark Healthcare, Jim and Nelda Luce Blair, Brian and Lorri Petrauskas, and Huntsman.

The American Heart Association (AHA) is a national volunteer health organization whose sole mission is to reduce death and disability from heart disease and stroke. Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans and stroke is number three.

According to Lindsey Mulholland, American Heart Association’s Sr. Corporate Market Director, the American Heart Association set an exciting and aggressive goal to save lives by reducing heart disease and stroke by 25% by the year 2010. With hard work and many wonderful supporters, the AHA was able to meet this goal early in 2008, saving an average of 250,000 mothers, daughters, fathers and sons each year.

Individual tickets are $300, and event sponsorships are still available ranging from the $3,000 to $25,000 level.
