Community Associations Hosting Shred Day

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Community Associations of The Woodlands will host a free shred day on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Woodlands High School, 6101 Research Forest Drive.

The free service is being offered after tax filing to assist residents with safe disposal of old records. Shred-All Texas, a local company specializing in secure destruction of confidential data, will shred documents on site. All shredded material will be recycled after the event.

“The Shred Day is a unique way to spotlight recycling while providing a valuable service to the community. Recycle paper, thwart identity thieves and benefit the food pantry at the same time!” said Lynne Aldrich, manager of Environmental Services for the Community Associations of The Woodlands.

For a donation of two canned goods, individuals may bring two bank boxes or one large trash bag filled with personal papers. Additional documents will be shredded for $3.50 a box. Only personal papers will be handled at the event; no businesses.

Donating their services for the fourth consecutive year, Shred-All Texas will set up the shredding station in the northwest corner of the student parking lot at The Woodlands High School during the community’s Earth Day Festival. The event also offers more than 70 booths and activities spotlighting nature, current trends in energy-saving technology and tips to conserve precious resources.

Organized by the Community Associations of The Woodlands and The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., admission to the event and most activities are free of charge, due to the generous support of Conroe Independent School District, Waste Management, The Woodlands Development Company, The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency and many others.
