Rise and Dine is Divine
I walked into Rise & Dine at an odd time of the day. Actually, 1:00pm is not an odd time for lunch, but it is for breakfast. By the relatively few people in the restaurant at that time, I suppose most people agree.
I, however, can eat breakfast any time of the day, which is a good thing considering I’m hardly ever awake at normal “breakfast time” anyway. I assume most teenagers are the same way, which is why I appreciate that the restaurant is open from 6:30am (for those early birds) to 2:00pm every day.
The first thing I noticed upon walking into the restaurant is its sunny atmosphere. The walls are painted a cheery yellow, which would definitely make the place feel more welcoming in the early morning.
The extensive menu features both breakfast and lunch items, with the most expensive plate at $10.99, but most items falling under $8. Breakfast ranges from a variety of omelettes to pancakes to fresh fruit, while the lunch portion contains sandwiches, wraps and salads. Many items also have the option of a “½ order,” which cuts down the price.
I opted for the ½ order of a “Rise & Dine Favorite,” the One-of-a-Kind French Toast Crunch. It is French toast that is coated with a mixture of granola, coconut and brown sugar, and then baked to create a crunchy shell. The smaller order was perfect for me – it was a whole piece of toast, cut in half, with butter in the center. The only downside was the butter, which I would have preferred to be on the side instead of it melting all over one portion of my French toast.
The service was great, both speedy and helpful. I also like the payment system, which allows customers to pay on their way out at cash registers located at the front of the restaurant. It seems like it would be really convenient during the morning rush. Catering is also available for those who wish to avoid the morning rush altogether.
The restaurant has two locations in The Woodlands: 3707 College Park Drive and 8000 McBeth Way.
