Census Bureau Surveying Locally
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has received notification that the Census Bureau is beginning work in our community.
According to the Census Bureau, a variety of survey techniques including, telephone, in-person interviews, as well as the mail will be used and that all representatives carry with them an official identification card. All persons representing the Census Bureau must show to respondents an official credential of the United States of America, Department of Commerce - U.S. Census Bureau identification card. The card has “U.S. Department of Commerce” the representatives “Name” along with an expiration date and “U.S. Census Bureau” with the Commerce Department seal.
The U.S. Census Bureau conducts surveys throughout the month, every month, not just every ten years.
The surveys undertaken by the Census Bureau provide vital information about emerging social problems, such as the condition of education, pregnancy and infant death, the prevalence of alcohol consumption, and crime. The data also describes the health, housing, employment, unemployment, income, and consumer expenditures of the population. The data is private and cannot be seen by anyone except authorized Census Bureau employees.
