The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. Awards Scholarships

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. (TWG) recently awarded 5 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating seniors from Montgomery County in its annual scholarship competition.

According to scholarship coordinator Debra Wymore, “These applicants demonstrated an outstanding commitment to preserving our natural environment through volunteering in their extra-curricular activities, and balanced school, work, and community service in an extraordinary way.”

And this year, the largest number of applications was received representing a good number of public and private high schools throughout the county.

Jillian Kenworthy from the John Cooper School along with Kayla Udell developed the recycling program for the school and both plan to attend Baylor University.

Edwin Hoff, an Eagle Scout worked on a number of environmental service projects, has graduated from Montgomery High School and will attend the University of Houston in the fall.

Jessica Fox was president of the Eco Club at The Woodlands College Park High School, and plans to attend the University of Texas.

Ricardo Hernandez, also of The Woodlands College Park High School and Eco Club member begins his college work at Lone Star College this summer.
