HOUSTON - Retired Hand specialist and founder of the Brown Hand Center, Dr. Michael Brown, 53, was arrested on Tuesday morning, August 24, for allegedly assaulting his wife, Rachel Brown, by twisting her arm forcefully behind her back as if attempting to break it during a domestic dispute revolving around his drinking on August 13.

Brown was previously convicted of aggravated assault against a family member on January 30, 2002 in Montgomery County. He received deferred adjudication for the assault against his then wife, Darlina Brown, which took place on January 24, 2001. Since Brown was charged with a similar offense, his plea is a conviction and enhances Tuesday's charges to a felony.

In 2006, Brown lost his medical license in 2006 when he tested for positive for cocaine while on probation.

According to court documents, Brown's bond was set at $40,000 and he was ordered to surrender his passport and stay 1,000 feet away from his wife, kids and their home.
