THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Lone Star College-Montgomery’s Center for the Arts is holding open auditions for the season’s opening production of Too Much Memory on Tuesday, September 7, at 4 p.m., in the mainstage theatre (Building D). Auditions are open to students and community members.

Those auditioning should prepare and memorize a contemporary dramatic monologue of 45-60 seconds in length. Callbacks, consisting of a cold reading, will be held Wednesday, Sep. 8, at 4 p.m., in the same location. Those selected for the cast and crew must enroll in Drama 1120 (Theatre Practicum). Community members can register for continuing education credit.

Too Much Memory, by Keith Reddin and Meg Gibson, is a retelling of the classic Greek story of Antigone set firmly in the present. This inventive adaptation straddles a line between the classic Greek tragedy and modern storytelling.

“This production is an exciting assault on the perceptions shaping the realities of our lives,” said Chase Waites, professor of drama at LSC-Montgomery and director of the production.

Rehearsals for the production begin Sep. 13 and take place Monday through Friday from 4-7 p.m. Performance dates are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

This show is a participating entry in the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival, and all cast and crew members will need to be available to travel with the production to San Jacinto College South in Houston from Tuesday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 23.
