THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Children’s Learning Adventure, an innovative childcare and children’s learning center, recently opened a new facility on College Park Drive in The Woodlands.

The center provides care and learning for children aged 6 weeks old through kindergarten. Before and after school care, as well as summer and holiday camps, are also available for children up to age 12.

Children’s Learning Adventure takes a different approach to childcare, with state-of-the-art facilities, highly trained teachers and specialized learning classrooms.

“Our focus at Children’s Learning Adventure is [to] change the concept of child care,” Vice President of Education Connie Lee said. “Our goal is to provide a private school education in a child care setting.”

In the Laboratory Lagoon, children learn science and math with hands-on, monthly themed activities. For June they are learning about water, including the rain cycle and sinking and floating. Picture Paradise is a TV studio where children learn music and drama activities, and can record and watch their performances. Imagination Island, modeled like a town, helps children learn social interactions. Reading Reef is the center’s library, and Nature’s Nook is an outdoor science area where children learn to plant and maintain gardens.

“We offer so much more than a typical child care center,” Lee said. “Once parents see our schools and witness the teachers in classrooms, it is a no-brainer.”

Additional specialty areas include a bowling alley, art classroom, indoor gym, outdoor tennis courts and Culinary Creations, which is designed like a cooking school.

“The children use math, reading and writing skills while completing cooking activities,” Lee said. “The great thing is they don’t even know they are learning.”

The school’s curriculum, which incorporates Spanish lessons from a young age, is heavily based on brain development research.

“Our curriculum and classroom environments support the cognitive, social and emotional development of children while teaching school readiness skills like reading, mathematical reasoning and writing,” Lee said. “All teachers go through our teacher training program and then are monitored on a daily basis by our full-time Educational Specialist.”

Safety features include a fingerprint scanner at the front door, parents PINs, employee swipe cards and a mandatory login to drop off or pick up a child. The staff are trained and background-checked and implement an attendance procedure daily.
