Children's Books on Wheels hosts fundraiser at Walmart

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Children’s Books on Wheels (CBOW) will be hosting a fundraiser event on Tuesday, July 23 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Walmart on SH 242/College Park Drive. The event will be hosted inside the McDonald’s at Walmart and at both entrances of the Supercenter, located at 3040 College Park Drive.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit literacy programs and community outreach for CBOW. Children’s Books on Wheels is a 501 (c)3 non-profit mobile literacy organization. Children’s Books on Wheels provides a variety of free books, learning materials and curriculum for children in need, residing in Montgomery and Walker counties.

“Children’s Books on Wheels also maintains the park library located at the Tamina Community Park,” according to Rita Wiltz, Executive Director. “The organization assists with referral and resources for the Texas Health and Human Services Association applications, brochures for CHIP Children’s Medicaid, CHIP Perinatal, Food Stamps, and Texas Women’s Program.” The books are all donated.

High school job workshops and summer outreach programs are an important component of CBOW. Services also include providing information for the prevention of HIV/AIDS and STD’s. Throughout the tax season Children’s Books on Wheels “Solutions For Communities VITA” program provides free mobile tax preparation at non-profits in North, South, East and West communities of Montgomery County including the homeless. All services are in English and Spanish.
