JLNHSMC awards $17,000 to community assistance fund recipients

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- For the past 23 years, the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties, Inc. (JLNHSMC) has played a vital role in North Harris and South Montgomery Counties by providing necessary funding to community organizations and mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to serve those in need. The JLNHSMC strives to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community through the effective action of trained volunteers.

The Community Assistance Fund provides the JLNHSMC with a flexible means to grant money to non-profit agencies that can effectively demonstrate that they have a need for funds and are focused on addressing our community’s greatest needs.

The JLNHSMC donated $17,000 towards Community Assistance Funds at the League’s Annual Meeting. This money was awarded to the following deserving organizations:
• Tamina Community Center (Stamping Out Hunger)
• Pregnancy Assistance Center North (addition to the new waiting room)
• Northwest Assistance Ministries (The NAM 60+ Café)
• The Grief Resource Center (Butterfly Release Project)
• Interfaith of The Woodlands (School Supplies 2013)
• Interfaith Community Clinic (Dental Sealants for children)
• Montgomery County Women’s Center (8 passenger van)

“These wonderful organizations provide unique and essential services to North Harris and Montgomery Counties. The Junior League is proud to support them in their work. As an organization dedicated to improving the community, we are pleased to help advance the mission of each of these organizations”, said Jennifer Bulovas, President of the JLNHSMC.

The following ladies were also installed as the JLNHSMC Executive Officers for 2013-2014 during the Annual Meeting:

Additional information and applications for the Community Assistance Fund can be found on the JLNHSMC’s website, www.jlnhsmc.org, under the Community page. Applications must be received by April 1, 2014. Selected organizations will be notified and funds will be awarded in May 2014. Emergency Relief Fund requests may be submitted any time during the year.
