"A Little Princess" is based on the children's novel by Francis Hodgson Burnett, the story about a young girl's imagination helping her conquer all obstacles that stand against her. The young Sara Crewe, who has been raised by her father and kind-hearted Africans, is separated from her father when she is sent to boarding school. As things decline there, she learns to allow her imagination to lead her to royalty, and begins to act with such elegance and grace as a little princess, earning favor in the eyes and hearts of those around her. This story is sure to spark a fire of childhood fervor that ignites in the hearts of those who have lost their sense of play and plants a new seed of imagination in those who are still wild and carefree. The musical includes students representing the fine arts departments in Oak Ridge, such as drill team, choir, theatre, art, orchestra, and band. "This production will be huge, but it is amazing to watch everyone come together and work as a team," say theatre director, Brittani Merritt. For more information about the musical, contact the Oak Ridge theatre department at: (832) 592-5432 or vprahl@conroeisd.net.
