Conroe ISD Campus Updates: May 28-June 3

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The following are Conroe ISD campus updates for May 28 - June 3.

Birnham Woods Elementary School

Spirit Sticks will be on sale in the cafeteria the morning of Wednesday, May 28 from 7:20-7:45 a.m. and are filled on a first come first serve basis at $1 per stick. Parents are welcome to accompany their child. Pre-order forms will be sent home in advance for those who are anxious to purchase specific spirit sticks.

On Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29 third grade will split and alternate days between their Field Trip to Spring Creek Nature Center and visit from children's author, H.J. Ralles.

Yearbooks will be passed out to students on Thursday, May 29. For students who did not order a yearbook, a paper will be coming home regarding the yearbook drawing on Monday, June 2 at 9 a.m. Parents will have 24 hours to claim and pay the $35 fee for their yearbook or else it will be put back into the drawing.

Broadway Elementary School

Broadway is a very active, exciting place these last few weeks of school. On Thursday, May 29 is our Kindergarten "Crossing the Bridge" program/promotion. There will just be one performance at 9 a.m.

Then on Friday, May 30 is the final Walk of Fame for the year. We have over 200 children that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for good character. The parade, led by Mocha our canine co-counselor, will be a 2 p.m.

Our A/B Honor roll celebration will be Monday, May 2 and our A Honor roll celebration will be Tuesday, May 3.

On Wednesday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m. will be our Fourth grade Promotion/Awards ceremony.

Then on Thursday, May 5 our grade levels will be celebrating a successful year with their end of the year parties.

Friday, June 6, is the last day of school and at 2:45 p.m. we will have a "Clap Out" for our fourth grade students.

Buckalew Elementary School

The fourth annual Paperback Book Exchange is coming! Students can bring up to 25 used (but in good condition) paperback books to the library May 27-30. We especially need books for our soon to be fifth graders; however, please do not send hardback books, board books, or books that are not suited for grades K-6. Students will receive “book bucks” for each book and may use these bucks to shop for paperback books on June 2.

Collins Intermediate School

Wednesday, May 28 at 3 p.m. is the fifth grade Colossal Cobra Awards.

Yearbooks go on sale at school Tuesday, May 27 - May 30 from 8-8:30 a.m. in the front of school.

Singers and Ringers Try-outs for next year for choir and bells will be the first week of school (Tuesday - Friday).

Returning 6th grader who were members of the Choir and Bell Choirs this year are automatically re-enrolled in Choir and Handbells for next year. All others are welcomed and encouraged to sign up for Choir and audition for Handbells. Have a wonderful summer! See you in the fall! Cox Intermediate School

Timberwolf teachers are Recognizing Our Committed Kids. Teachers are keeping their eyes out for students who are making great choices in behavior. Ford Elementary School

Kindergarten graduation will take place at 9:30 a.m. on May 27 and 29. Congratulations to our little graduates!

Awards Assemblies for grade levels are scheduled as follows: first grade - May 28, at 1:15 p.m. Third grade – May 30, at 9:30 a.m. Second grade – May 30, at 1:15 p.m. Fourth grade – June 3, at 9:30 a.m. We are very proud of all of our outstanding students!

Galatas Elementary School

First grade will have their end of the year picnics on June 3.

Science Camp Week will be May 27 through May 30. The theme this year is “Space”.

Glen Loch Elementary School

Author David Sargent will bring his trick dogs to Glen Loch to teach students about being an author on Wednesday, May 28. He will autograph any books that are sold during his visit.

The fourth grade wax museum will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3.

The June Chick-Fil-A luncheon for students who are selected for showing the character trait of endurance will be held on June 3.

Yearbooks may be ordered during May online. Order next year's school supplies online until June 30.

The Parent Teacher Organization is selling personalized bricks as an ongoing fund raiser. Buy a brick and be part of school history.

Hailey Elementary School

The Parent Teacher Association is providing school supplies packets for purchase for next school year, order forms are due May 30. Online ordering is also available through June 30.

Thursday, May 29, is the annual fourth grade Raft Regatta. Thank you for sending in empty, clean one-gallon milk jugs with lids for this event.

Also May 29 at 6-7 p.m., Hailey students and families are invited to participate in Fine Arts Night. Students will exhibit skills learned in art, music, and physical education, as well as invite parents to join in the fun with folk dancing, volleyball, and art activities. There will also be a book exchange table sponsored by the library. Bring some books to give away and go home with some new literary treasures of your own. Please plan to enjoy this special family evening.

Friday, May 30 at 9 a.m., Kindergarten students will present their end of year program in the cafeteria. Please watch your child's Wednesday folder for announcements about end of year activities and permission slips needed for participation.

Yearbooks are for sale for $35, and may be ordered online at www.jostens.com or with an order form from the front office.

Students are encouraged to bring aluminum cans for recycling every Friday for the Cash for Cans program.

Houser Elementary School

May 29 is NEAT Popcorn Recognition during lunch and Bike drawing during each lunch period. Also, PTO Spirit Night and 4th Grade Party at SK8 Town on Rayford Rd. is May 29.

On May 30 the Annual Volunteer Tea at 1:30pm in the Houser Library.

June 3 is Awards Day for Grades First, Second, and Third during their Specials time and June 4 is the 4th Grade Bridging Ceremony at 9:00am in the gym. June 5 is the Kindergarten Graduation at 9:00am in the gym.

Kaufman Elementary School

Second grade students continue to learn while having fun at Camp Learned A Lot.

Thursday, May 29 fourth grade will be performing for the students and staff at 9:15 a.m. and for parents at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, May 30 will be a fun filled day as the PTO sponsors Kaufman's Fun Day. Fourth grade will also have their Envision Expo at 2 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Awards ceremonies will be held on Monday, June 2 for second grade at 8:30 a.m., fourth grade at 9 a.m., first grade at 10 a.m. and third grade at 1 p.m.

McCullough Junior High School

Seventh Locker clean-out will be held during advisory on May 27 and May 28. Eighth grade locker cleanout will be on May 29 and 30.

The last day students may bring backpacks to school will be on June 3.

The McCullough band had the opportunity to perform in the UH Moores School of Music Band Invitational.

P.T.O. school supply order window is open until June 16. If you want to order the supplies, please go to www.epipacks.com and enter school I.D. MCC064. The pack is $40.00 and will be distributed during Student Orientation in August.

Mitchell Intermediate School

On Wednesday, May 28, the sixth grade mini-society, International Market, will be held from 1-3 p.m. in the Commons.

LCs 10 and 11 will participate in the Envision Expo on Thursday, May 29 at 8 a.m. in the library.

The Fourth Quarter Magnificent Mustang Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 9:15 a.m. in the Commons.

The Sixth grade band concert will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m. in the Commons.

The First Annual fifth grade Field Day will be held on Friday, May 30 from 1-3 p.m. on the school grounds.

The Sixth grade Fine Arts Concert, for students, will be held on Monday, June 2 at 9 a.m. in the Commons.

The Fifth grade Fine Arts Concert, for students, will be held on Monday, June 2 at 2 p.m. in the Commons.

Mrs. Bryant would like to thank all of the parent volunteers who helped make our first, BOGO Scholastic Book Fair a success.

Oak Ridge High School

Congratulations to Shelby Donovan and Braydon Ogilvie who were chosen as Queen and King for the 2014 Senior Prom. Prom was held on Saturday, May 10 at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. Prom Theme was Magical Memories.

Powell Elementary School

Wednesday, May 28, is Autograph day! Yearbooks will be distributed that day.

On Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30, fourth graders will be sharing their talents in the annual fourth grade Talent Show.

On Monday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 3, second graders will have their Park Day in the morning.

Snyder Elementary School

Thank you Stallion parents for your food donations for our "Big Event"! We are so very proud to support Dr. Ann Snyder and Interfaith of The Woodlands.

Friday, May 30 at 2 p.m. this month's Stallion Standouts will be honored. These students demonstrated good citizenship during this last month of school. Monday, June 2 our Snyder Scholars will be honored during lunch. Way to go Snyder Scholars!

Kindergarten Graduation will take place Wednesday June 4 at 9 a.m. Fourth grade Awards Celebration will take place the same day at 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday, June 5 first, second and third Grades will have their End of Year Awards Celebrations. First grade will take place at 8:15 a.m., second grade at 9:30 a.m., and third grade at 10:30 a.m.

Tough K-6 School

The following Coulson Tough students participated in the CISD Spring Fun Run: In third grade, Jack Martin and Hector Guzman. Wilkerson Intermediate School

Band Concert is Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m. Parents, staff and neighbors are invited to come hear this award-winning band.

Congratulations to Band Directors Brian Schellberg and Wendy Zimmerman for their scores of “1” at the May 22 competition!

The end of the year celebration for fifth grade is Thursday, June 5 on campus during the school day.

Awards Ceremonies will be held on Friday, June 6. The fifth grade assembly will be at 9 a.m.; the sixth grade assembly will be at 10:50 a.m. Friday, June 6 is the last school day for students. Saturday, June 7 is the last school day for teachers.

York Junior High School

As the end of the year approaches, the textbook collection process has begun. Textbooks can be returned to the front office now through May 30. Any textbooks not returned by May 30 will be considered lost and must be paid for by the last day of school. Please contact the AP's office if you have any questions.

Summer School registration has begun. Contact you counselor for more information. Classes will be June 10 - June 20.

STAAR retesting (eighth grade only) will be June 10 - June 23. The Math STAAR will be on June 24 and the Reading STAAR will be on June 25. Final exams will begin June 3. No exams will be given early. Missed exams will need to be made up by June 18. Students who fail to make up exams will receive a zero. Exams account for 10% of their semester grade, unless it is a high school course which counts for 15%.
