THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- MW Cleaners, the largest dry cleaner in the country, is partnering with the Salvation Army of Greater Houston this Father's Day with a tie drive to benefit the Harbor Light Center. The Harbor Light Center provides assistance to the increasing needs of Houston's homeless and addicted men.

Last Week of MW Cleaners Tie Drive to Benefit Salvation Army

The Father’s Day Tie Drive will run until Fri., June 13. According to Mike Nesbit, president of MW Cleaners, each Houston-area MW Cleaners will serve as a drop-off location for donations of new or gently used men’s ties. Additionally, customers interested in giving ties may also make a donation through their regularly scheduled MW Cleaners pick-up service at home or office.

MW Cleaners is always looking for ways to support the community, according to Nesbit. He said, “We at MW Cleaners are in the image business and our job is to make people look good and feel good in what they wear.” He added, “This is what our business is all about and I am honored to be able to work with such an amazing organization such as The Salvation Army in helping to make all fathers look good on Father’s Day.”

Each night in Houston, at least 600 homeless people find shelter at one of The Salvation Army’s facilities and every year, nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from the agency nationwide. At Houston’s Harbor Light Center, The Salvation Army helps adult men overcome their addictions to drugs and/or alcohol and provide them a transition out of homelessness.

“The Salvation Army is about second chances. At the Harbor Light Center, we provide homeless and addicted men the opportunity to address their physical, spiritual and emotional needs,” said Sergeant Rodney Hinkle, Corps Officer, The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center.

The Harbor Light Center has also created the acclaimed Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir from their current and former clients. The Choir is comprised of 10 to 14 current and former substance abuse program participants who have demonstrated success and initiative towards their recovery. These men make a one-year commitment to perform at various venues with the choir as part of their work therapy. “Thanks to the efforts of MW Cleaners, our clients will have a nice and clean tie for when they go to job interviews and attend our Sunday services at Harbor Light Corps,” Hinkle said.
