Baker Hughes collects over 3000 pounds of food to benefit community and MCEA

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Montgomery County Emergency Assistance [MCEA] recently received a donation of over 3,000 pounds of food collected through a competitive food drive at Baker Hughes in The Woodlands throughout the month of June as part of Montgomery County United Way Days of Caring.

“I’m glad we could participate in the food drive to help MCEA and our local community. It was an enjoyable experience for everyone who participated. The excitement, competition and results far exceeded our goals,” said Eric Olsen, Reliability Assurance Manager for Baker Hughes. “We were able to donate eight 3’ x 3’ boxes overflowing with food items.”

Baker Hughes contributed more than 5,300 items to MCEA.

“We are so very thankful for the partnership, especially during the summer months when families are more in need of food from our agency. The MCEA Pantry was literally bare prior to the donation from Baker Hughes,” said Chad Patterson, Executive Director of MCEA. The Client Choice Pantry allows clients to choose the food they want and need keeping their dignity and self-respect intact.

MCEA serves clients from throughout Montgomery County struggling with a crisis and in need of food. Baker Hughes has made a huge impact in the community during a time when food is needed most!

Montgomery County Emergency Assistance is a not-for-profit agency serving the community since 1981.This fall MCEA will introduce a program to move clients into self-sufficiency by offering education, financial independence, health/wellness and an individual service plan through key collaborations in the community. The agency is excited to be able to partner with the community in offering real-life solutions.
