MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) has joined #GivingTuesday, a national day of giving that inspires businesses, families, and individuals to take collaborative action to improve their local communities. #GivingTuesday will take place on December 2 to kick off the season of giving.

For 25 years, Education for Tomorrow Alliance has served as a business-education partnership that helps prepare students for the future through hands-on programs. According to EfTA President Monica Bomkamp Enia, “Giving Tuesday is a meaningful counter to two days of shopping frenzy. It encourages individuals to consider what ways their time and energy can benefit others. Giving Tuesday offers a valuable platform for nonprofits like EfTA to raise awareness and to highlight our work in the community. Our goal on Tuesday is to raise a total of $5,000, $2,500 in the morning and $2,500 in the afternoon, in celebration of our 25th anniversary so that we can continue empowering young people in Montgomery County.”

#GivingTuesday is designed to enable nonprofits to harness the power of social media to make giving contagious. Actions big or small – be it donations, time spent volunteering or beyond – lead to big changes, and the holiday season is the perfect inspiration. Participants are invited to share the ways they are giving back using the hashtag #GivingTuesday or posting an “unselfie” online.

Seeing an opportunity to channel the generous spirit of the holiday season to inspire action around charitable giving, a group led by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation came together in 2012 to find ways to promote and celebrate the great American tradition of giving. More than 10,000 organizations have joined the movement and are providing creative ways people can embrace #GivingTuesday and collaborate in their giving efforts to create more meaningful results.
