CONROE, Texas - Tenacious defense and transition offense led the Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles to a 53-33 non-district victory over Klein at home Tuesday night.

Oak Ridge (5-7) looked to run early, as the Lady War Eagles sprinted out to an early 11-4 lead, as they forced Klein (0-8) into five turnovers in their first seven possessions.

The defense got even more aggressive in the second quarter as Oak Ridge limited Klein to just five points in the second quarter, as Klein had 17 turnovers in the first half. Most of those Klein turnovers continued to feed the Lady War Eagle fast break leading to easy lay-ups on the other end.

Sophomore point guard Alyssa Osborne hit a 3-point field goal at the buzzer to put an exclamation point on the first half for Oak Ridge as they stretched their lead to 35-15 at the halftime break.

The Lady War Eagles continued their pressure defense in the second half as Klein couldn’t cut the deficit by any more than 12 points.

Oak Ridge will close the non-district portion of their schedule when they travel to Cy-Fair on Friday, December 12 at 7pm, before opening district 16-6A play at home Monday, December 15 at 7pm against Summer Creek.
