Here’s a round-up from Friday’s area boys basketball district 16-6A games.

Atascocita 82 College Park 56

College Park hung with state-ranked No.1 Atascocita for one quarter, however the Eagles (18-1, 1-0) were too much for the Cavaliers as College Park drops their district opener on the road 82-56 on Friday night.

College Park shot just 39 percent (22-of-57) from the floor, in a rematch of last year’s Class 5A Region II Regional Quarterfinal playoffs.

Brett Reed led the way for the Cavaliers scoring 18 points, as Atascocita got a solid performance from Carsen Edwards, who scored a game-high 23 points.

College Park (11-11, 0-1) will have a bye on Tuesday and host The Woodlands (13-4, 1-0) on Friday, January 9, at 7pm, in a game that will be broadcasted live on Woodlands Online.

Kingwood 60 Oak Ridge 37

After a tight first quarter, Kingwood broke away from Oak Ridge on the heels of a 17-6 second quarter, en route to a 60-37 district opening win on Friday night.

Oak Ridge (11-10, 0-1) was led by Tyler Dawson, who scored 14 points for the War Eagles. Kingwood (10-12, 1-0) was led by Fabian White, who scored a game-high 17 points for the Mustangs.

Oak Ridge will open district play at home on Tuesday, January 6, at 7pm against Conroe in a game broadcast live on Woodlands Online.
