THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Cameron Clay-Klepac, who has served The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau as the Event Specialist, has been named to Marketing Specialist for the organization.

In her new role, Klepac will manage various aspects of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau’s destination marketing efforts including advertising, special promotions and public relations – all designed to promote The Woodlands as a premier destination for corporate and convention meetings, leisure travel, events and festivals.

“Cameron is well-versed in the marketing industry and emerging technologies,” says Nick Wolda, president of The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We look forward to the management of outstanding marketing and public relations programs that will continue to position The Woodlands as a great place to hold meetings, conventions, special events and festivals.”

With over nine million square feet of shopping, dining, hospitality and entertainment, The Woodlands features over 1,600 hotel rooms and generates approximately $6.7 million in hotel room tax and over $46 million in sales tax annually. Most of the hotels average a 75% or higher occupancy.

Two new full service hotels will open in late 2015 adding 500 rooms and bringing the room inventory in The Woodlands to over 2,000. The Westin on the Waterway is expected to have 300 rooms and 24,000 square feet of meeting space. A 200 room Embassy Suites will open in Hughes Landing.

While millions of people visit The Woodlands each year, the CVB, through its Visitor Services program, surveyed 142,505 guests at The Woodlands Mall and Market Street in 2014. The visitors represented 49 different states and 108 countries. Visitor Services first recorded the number of visitors to The Woodlands in 2007 and the number has increased by over 760% over the past 7 years.
