“It was a great overall performance for us tonight defensively. Our game plan was to feed the ball inside to the post and attack the basket, and I thought we did a pretty good job tonight of executing,” said Cavaliers Head Coach Clifton McNeely.

After a tight first quarter in which the Cavaliers led 12-11, College Park (15-15, 4-5) started the second quarter on an 8-0 run keyed by two second chance baskets from Brett Reed and Dax Deboer, giving the Cavaliers a 22-14 lead before Oak Ridge (12-18, 1-9) could get its first field goal of the second quarter on a Darius Love three-pointer from the left corner with just over four minutes left in the first half.

College Park outscored Oak Ridge 22-11 in the second quarter on the heels of a 7-1 run over the final 1:40 to close the first half to put the War Eagles down by a dozen at the break.

College Park didn’t let the foot off of the accelerator in the third quarter as Chandler Morris hit a 3-pointer from the left corner to give College Park a 39-24 lead with 4:32 left in the third quarter. The College Park lead continue to grow as Grimes and McKinley Green each got steals that turned into fastbreak lay-ups and then Brett Reed got another second chance lay-up to give College Park a 46-26 lead with 2:16 left in the third quarter.

Oak Ridge would continue to fight, however Quentin Grimes may have had his coming out party, scoring 10 points in the final quarter in closing the door on Oak Ridge.

"It started with giving up all the offensive rebounds, almost every one of them led to a basket. If they (College Park) are going to get second chance shots is one thing, but to get second chance and lay-ups, that's tough," said War Eagles Head Coach Neil Laminack.

College Park will travel to Summer Creek on Tuesday, February 10, for a crucial game for both teams with playoff implications at stake.
