MUMFORD, Texas -- Durbin Feltman and the Oak Ridge high school baseball team took game one of the best of three UIL third round playoff series with Austin-Bowie Thursday night at neutral site Mumford, 4-0.

Feltman was lights out in going the distance for Oak Ridge (27-1) firing a one-hit gem striking out 13 while handing out just two free passes in throwing 115 total pitches. Junior shortstop Michael Lawson continues to solve opposing pitching in collecting a single and a double plating three War Eagles to include the first frame when he doubled in Luken Baker who had lead off the game with a walk. Lawson's bat has been sizzling as he's been above the 500 mark all season long.

War Eagle head coach, Mike Pirtle was excited about his team's showing:

"Durbin (Feltman) can pitch and he gets better every game. Last game he was clocked at 92-94 and tonight I'm not sure but he is consistently in the 88-91 range. Michael's (Lawson) been doing it all season and every time you look up he's getting a hit. This team loves each other and we just love being at the park together. These players feed off each other."

Lawson discussed his success at the plate and the team's play:

"In recent years I've been getting hurt so my main goal this season has been to stay healthy. The more repetitions I get throughout the season makes me more comfortable at the plate. We all like each other and joke around all the time and no one takes anything seriously. We're all equals."

Bryce Foley had a hit and an RBI. Zach Rollins contributed a hit and scored a run. Anthony Smith and Feltman had a hit each while Rey Chapa and Jose Sanchez each crossed go once as pinch runners.

Kyle Gray went all the way for the Bulldogs fanning eight, walking one, surrendering eight hits while giving up four earned runs. Gray picked up the only hit off Feltman.

Oak Ridge (Team No Ego) is back in action for game two against Bowie Friday night at 7:30pm in Mumford as they try and close out the series to avoid having to make a third trip on Saturday. Luken Baker will be on the hill for the War Eagles.
