THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Be sure to fill your shopping basket for a good cause on Wednesday, August 17 as Whole Foods Market in The Woodlands will donate five percent of sales to Children’s Safe Harbor.

As part of their ongoing “Community Giving Day” program, Whole Foods Market, located at 1925 Hughes Landing Blvd., has chosen Children’s Safe Harbor for their next community support day.

While the store is open that day from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m., representatives from Children’s Safe Harbor will be on site from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. with informative material about the non-profit children’s advocacy center and offer giveaways of logo t-shirts, bracelets and hats (while supplies last), and coloring activities for children.

Five percent of the day’s sales will go toward Children Safe Harbor’s Capital Campaign Fund and to subsidize the cost of art therapy supplies and the more than 1,000 snacks that are provided to children and families that are treated at the facility.

Children’s Safe Harbor’s mission is to protect and enhance the life of every child who has the courage to battle sexual or severe physical abuse. As a nationally-accredited nonprofit organization serving Montgomery, San Jacinto and Walker counties, it is part of a nationwide effort to heal the trauma of abuse and facilitate justice for children ages 2 through 17 and their families.

Children's Safe Harbor offers specialized services to traumatized children and their families on a centralized campus facility. Children are able to share their experiences of abuse through a unique narrative investigation process called a forensic interview. Specialized medical evaluations and weekly individual, family and group counseling services are all available at no cost to the child victims and their non-offending family members. Volunteers and prevention programming services are central to the mission of this children’s advocacy center.

“We are grateful to have been selected as the next benefactor of Whole Foods Market Community Giving Day”, said Victoria Constance, MSPH, PhD, Executive Director and CEO of the Board of Directors for Children’s Safe Harbor. “In 2015 alone, we helped over 900 children and their families. While we continue to provide a positive and safe place to help traumatized and abused children in our community through a multi-disciplinary process of justice and healing, we have outgrown our space and desperately need a larger facility. We encourage the community to turn out and shop at Whole Foods Market on August 17 to help raise funds and awareness.”
