Montgomery County Animal Shelter hosts meet and greet for new director

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- More than 150 citizens were in attendance at the meet and greet for new shelter director Charles Jackson, hosted at the Mercedes-Benz The Woodlands dealership on Thursday evening.

Guests had the opportunity to speak with Jackson as they arrived and also talk with county officials such as Precinct 3 and 4 Commissioners James Noack and Jim Clark.

"I am so excited that Montgomery County's Commissioners Court selected who we believe is the finest man to run the animal shelter," said Commissioner Noack to the crowd before handing the microphone over to Jackson.

Jackson shared his history in the business of saving lives and how it brought him to his new position at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. He explained his vision for the shelter and how he plans to make the changes necessary in order to transform it into one of the best-run facilities in the country.

"People ask me all the time, 'Charles, are we going to be a no kill shelter?'" said Jackson. "What I tell them is a very strong maybe, and that maybe depends on the community, it's not up to me. A no-kill community has a no-kill shelter, that's what happens."

Jackson also made sure that the residents of Montgomery County know that they have a passionate director dedicated to saving the lives of the animals. He talked about the new "Home For the Howlidays" adoption specials just launched at the shelter, which includes a $20 fee for all pets through 12/24 ($10 for military & foster fails).

"We are very excited about the initiative Charles has taken during his first week at the shelter," said Noack.
