The Woodlands, Texas - Congressman Kevin Brady joined Debbie Sukin, regional senior vice president and CEO of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, and other hospital leaders for a tour of the brand new facility, located at the southeast corner of I-45 and TX 242, on Saturday, July 1.

The congressman experienced a first-hand look at the technology that is unique to Houston Methodist The Woodlands, including a 384 slice CT that can scan the entire body in less than 15 seconds. He also learned about the hospital’s hybrid operating room which combines the capabilities of an operating room and cath lab, allowing physicians to perform specialized procedures for complex cardiac and neurological cases.

“In our community, no where have we grown more impressively than in health care. Houston Methodist The Woodlands, specifically, is a huge addition for us,” said Brady. “This is what you hope for and the type of care you dream of for your community.”

Congressman Brady met with staff as he visited numerous departments of the 470,000 square foot hospital. He also shared words with hospital leadership during a morning meeting.

“As impressive as the building and facilities are, it’s those of you who provide the care that is really the most impressive. Your vision of safety, quality, service and innovation came through in every discussion we had along the tour,” said Brady.

The congressman, who is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, also told Houston Methodist The Woodlands leaders that the committee would soon be hosting a summit on medical “red tape” and calling on medical leaders to help identify regulations that hinder providing top quality health care, with hopes of reinforcing such qualities as innovation and safety.
