“A lot to be thankful for”: Adrian Heath released on parole in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Adrian Heath has returned home to The Woodlands.
On the morning of Aug. 2, Heath’s wife, Kandy, was notified that her husband was being released on parole from the Huntsville Detention Center.
Heath, imprisoned after he was convicted for voter fraud in an attempt to stop big-money developers from rigging bond elections, said being released has been a surreal experience.
Several residents of The Woodlands showed their support and appreciation of Heath with an American Hero sign that greeted him upon his return home.
“That was a very uplifting thing for people to do,” Heath said. “I might not deserve all that like being called a hero and such, there’s a lot bigger heroes around, but it was very uplifting and thoughtful. It blessed my socks off.”
Now that he is back with his family in The Woodlands, Heath said his next step is to begin the job search.
Heath quoted Psalm 126 to describe the surreal feeling of being released.
“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.”
During his time in prison, Heath’s supporters in the community lobbied for his release; an effort that became a blessing, Heath said.
“I owe a lot of people,” Heath said. “I really have to be thankful to them, directly. There were people during the trials who helped me financially, people who wrote letters to the parole board, people who wrote to me in prison and sent me books. So many people were champions for me in the community and they spread the word and gained community support by calling officials. I have a lot to be thankful for.”
