THE WOODLANDS, Texas-- As summer workouts and practices come to an end, The Woodlands is in need for a new playmaker at the quarterback position. Senior Quinn Binney looks to be the right guy for Coach Schmid’s famous spread offense.

Binney, a commit for the United States Military Academy for lacrosse, has all the tools to be the next quarterback to continue the success the Highlanders have had under Schmid’s tenure. He’ll be following in the footsteps of Eric Schmid, who led the Woodlands to the State final in 2016.

The senior quarterback’s mobility will carry the Highlanders in some games and he will have Texas Tech commit KeSean Carter out wide to help though the air. Binney and Carter can be the next Highlander greats alongside names like Danny Amendola, Daniel Lasco, and Patrick Carr. KeSean has the single season records in the big three receiving categories with 70 receptions, 1300 plus yards, and 16 TDs and with Binney getting him the ball, Carter should relive last season’s success.

The quarterback battle seems to always favor the upperclassmen and that will be the case here for the Woodlands. Junior Casey Sunseri, who was the junior varsity starter, is also a highly talented QB prospect within the Highlanders system who can provide sparks of brilliance with his dual-threat ability.

The Highlanders goal every season is to win a state title and there’s no reason for that dream to change. They have the talent and coaching present on championship teams and with an inspired group left from the emotional 2016 season, 2017 looks to be the Highlanders year.
