Spring Creek at Kuykendahl expected to crest within 24 hours; Tropical Storm Harvey update from The Woodlands Township

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- From The Woodlands Fire Department in conjunction with Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management

Urgent: From Montgomery County OEM

If you border Spring Creek, you may be susceptible to flooding. “Spring Creek is expected to crest within the next 24 hours. Make plans to protect your property and family. If you can leave, do so now” advises Montgomery County, who has established shelters at the following locations:

  • St Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive, The Woodlands, TX
  • Wildwood United Methodist Church, 8911 FM 1488, Magnolia
  • Bull Sallas Park
    21679 McCleskey Road
    New Caney, TX 77357

Villages in The Woodlands that border up to Spring Creek include Creekside Park, Panther Creek, Grogan's Mill including Grogan's Point, Indian Springs, and Sterling Ridge. More specific neighborhoods within these Villages that could be affected will be released shortly. Go to http://mctxoem.org/ for additional alerts and advisories including road closures.

The Woodlands Fire Department and Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) urges all residents to remain indoors and off of the roadways. Major shopping areas are closed.

According to The Woodlands Joint Powers Association (WJPA), there is no truth to the rumors on the interruption of water service to residents and businesses.

Waste Management will not be operating Monday for solid waste pickup or recycling.

Interfaith of The Woodlands will be putting correspondence out tomorrow regarding needs in The Woodlands and surrounding areas. They will need volunteers as the storm passes dealing with and distributing supplies. Tropical Storm Harvey is currently tracking to the south. It is forecasted to reach the coast followed by a turn to N/NE by Tuesday, August 29, 2017, tracking towards the Houston Metro area.
