The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce to host Township Candidate Forum

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Business Advocacy Council will host a Township Candidate Forum 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. Friday Sept. 22 at The Chamber, 9320 Lakeside Boulevard.

Three positions on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will be elected in November 2017. Each office carries a two-year term. Candidate positions 5, 6 and 7 will be on the ballot. Positions 5 and 6 are unopposed but the incumbents will address those in attendance at the beginning of the forum. Candidates for Position 7 will make opening and closing remarks, as well as answer questions from the forum moderator.

Position #5 – Vice Chairman: Unopposed

John P. McMullan: McMullan is an attorney with Winstead P.C. in The Woodlands. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.B.A. in finance from University of Texas-Austin. He and his wife Kim, the parents of four children, moved to The Woodlands in 2008.

Position #6 – Treasurer: Unopposed

Ann K. Snyder: Snyder is the executive directory of generosity at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, and is the head of schools for The Woodlands Methodist Schools. She was originally elected to The Woodlands Township Board of Directors in November 2015. In addition to her role as treasurer, Snyder is chairman of the Township's Economic Development Committee.

Position #7 - Secretary

Laura Fillault (incumbent): Fillaut is a political commentator, community activist, volunteer and homemaker. She has a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University. Fillault, her husband Pierre and their two children moved to The Woodlands in 2012. She currently serves on the Indian Springs Village Board Association and as the social media committee lead for The Woodlands Republican Women's Club.

Carol Stromatt: Stromatt, an advocate and volunteer for children and the elderly, is an Indian Springs Village Association board member. She has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, including commercial and development. Stromatt and her husband Richard have lived in The Woodlands for 18 years. They currently live in Indian Springs and have both been active members of the Indian Springs Village Association for a decade.

  • Early Voting – Oct. 23 – Nov. 3
  • Election Day – Nov. 7
