THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Texas Gulf Coast Chapter will kick off The Woodlands’ first Man & Woman of the Year campaign in the spring of 2018.

Mindy Reynolds has joined the existing LLS team to introduce this new campaign to The Woodlands.

Reynolds brings with her more than 15 years of event planning experience in the nonprofit market. Her new role will include building a leadership team of compassionate community leaders to help raise funds to find cures and ensure patient access to treatments for blood cancer patients, through nominating the first class of Man & Woman of the Year candidates in The Woodlands.

Man & Woman of the Year is an annual 10-week fundraising competition in which candidates from across the country compete to raise the most funds for blood cancer research in honor of a local boy or girl who are blood cancer survivors. The male and female candidates raising the most funds during the campaign will be awarded the title of the campaign’s Man of the Year and Woman of the Year, respectively.

“Mindy has worked with LLS for the past 9 years on logistics for Light the Night and our Houston Man & Woman of the Year campaigns. We are excited to have her bring her leadership and knowledge to The Woodlands campaign,” said Nicole Townley, director of Man & Woman of the Year, LLS Gulf Coast Chapter.

A resident of The Woodlands, Reynolds serves on the Panther Creek Village Association board of directors, the Parks and Recreation advisory committee, Sally K. Ride PTO and is a founding member of the Inspire Film Festival advisory team.

Although this campaign has been a success across the nation for the past 20 years, including the Houston campaign that raised a record-breaking $1.1 million in 10 weeks, the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter will be bringing a second campaign to The Woodlands this spring.

The 2018 Man & Woman of the Year will be announced at the Grand Finale Celebration. The winners will be named based on their success in generating funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society during the 10 weeks following the kickoff event. Candidates can bring in funds through third-party events, corporate sponsorships, online fundraising, and utilizing their own talents and networks. The Grand Finale will be held June 1 at The Westin at The Woodlands.
