Second annual Inspire Film Festival confirmed in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The 2nd Annual Inspire Film Festival is set to excite, ignite and INSPIRE on President’s Day weekend, February 15-19, 2018 in The Woodlands.

The Inspire Film Festival is the brainchild of Jane Minarovic, a Woodlands resident and University of Texas graduate and filmmaker. Jane is currently making preparations to present approximately 15 international documentary films curated around the central idea of celebrating the human spirit over a 5-day jam-packed art laden and culture filled 2018 President’s Day weekend.

Nick Wolda, President of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau saw the success of The Woodlands first film festival earlier this year as a testament to the big hearts and love of the arts found in the people of The Woodlands.

“The Inspire Film Festival is organic to The Woodlands’ original vision set forth by developer George Mitchell and his wife Cynthia Woods Mitchell who believed art should be an integral part of the community. The Inspire Film Festival is the perfect new addition – another jewel in the crown of myriad annual artistic events available in The Woodlands for residents and visitors to enjoy,” said Wolda.

Next year’s festival will once again see a partnership between the Inspire Film Festival and nonprofit organizations for the free and open-to-the-public Waterway Square film shorts night, themed events at Market Street, educational symposia at The Glade Gallery and the after parties at Crush Wine Lounge—and of course the film screenings at Cinemark Theaters and The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

“We were proud to showcase two inspirational films, “Landfill Harmonic” and “Becoming Bulletproof”, last year at The Woodlands United Methodist Church and look forward to being part of festival again next year,” said Pastor Rob Renfroe of The Woodlands United Methodist Church and Inspire Film Festival Board Member. “Different than seeing a film on its own in the theater or renting a film to view in your home, attending a film festival is an entirely different experience complete with Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and film subjects, symposia on related topics and events built to complement the film screenings”.

While Minarovic attends several film festivals and screens hundreds of films, in efforts to find the story gems she will bring to IFF in 2018. Additionally, Ann Wolford and Brooke Baugh of The Wolford Consulting Group have come aboard to lead sponsorship recruitment efforts. Sponsors make this film festival possible. “This year, we are pairing our sponsors with local nonprofit organizations to extend their charitable dollars. Not only will a company’s sponsorship build brand awareness by connecting them with a life changing film, but they are able to provide passes through a partnership with a nonprofit organization to people who would benefit from seeing the film,” remarks Brooke Baugh with The Wolford Group.

“My hope for The Inspire Film Festival is to become a weekend where residents and visitors of The Woodlands of all ages will be entertained by a diverse slate of films from all over the world, and be inspired to go out and make a change, big or small—to make the world a better place,” said Minarovic.
