THE WOODLANDS, TX—Unbeaten no more. Oak Ridge comes into week 8 off their first loss of the season to the Woodlands Highlanders. They will travel to Lufkin who is coming off a 50-7 victory over previously 5-1 West Brook.

Oak Ridge has gone through three different quarterbacks this season in Bishop Durst, Reinard Britz, and Blaine Romero. Romero got the nod against The Woodlands, while Durst saw action as a defensive back. The War Eagle starting quarterback going into this week will remain unknown until game time. Even with three different quarterbacks under center, Oak Ridge has managed to lose just one game all season, thanks in large part to receivers Tanner Lacy and Darrius Jelks. Also with Joseph Ossai and the War Eagle defense, Oak Ridge has put themselves in the conversation as one of the best teams in the area.

Lufkin will have junior quarterback Kewone Thomas, fresh off a three-touchdown game, he will look to hand Oak Ridge their second straight loss of the season. With University of Houston commit Malik Jackson, The Panthers have the firepower to match up well with Oak Ridge’s plethora of D1 talent.

Oak Ridge will travel to Lufkin for their first away game in over a month. 2-0 on the road, the War Eagles will be prepared for the long road trip ahead and look to rebound from their 49-14 loss to (#4) The Woodlands. The matchup between these two teams this week will have a huge impact on who ends up as the second seed from District 12-6A. The War Eagles will need a victory to distance themselves from Lufkin and West Brook.

The War Eagles will travel to Lufkin on Friday, Oct 27 in a significant road test with playoff implications. The winner should sit alone in second place, barring the conclusion of The Woodlands vs Conroe contest also on Friday night at Woodforest Bank Stadium.
