THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Two former NFL players gathered in The Woodlands Oct. 24 to help the special needs community experience the thrill of flight.

Jackie Battle, a resident of The Woodlands whose football career includes the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers and the Tennessee Titans; along with Joe Anderson of the Chicago Bears, were part of an event hosted at iFLY Woodlands in honor of We See Abilities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing a better quality of life to the special needs community through the joy of sports.

"It was incredible to see them experience something like this," Battle said. "It was exciting to fly with them. The best way I can explain it is the feeling I used to get when I played football, right before the game started, rushing out through the smoke … an adrenalin rush."

Local Houston rapper Trae tha Truth and his son D'Neeko were also at the event, and received an achievement award for their efforts during Hurricane Harvey relief.

"The entire night was an exciting and uplifting time where people were encouraged to do things they never thought possible," said Staci Smith, sales manager at iFLY Woodlands. "We love helping create stories and memories that make people smile."

Battle was a Woodlands Online Faces of The Woodlands profile earlier this year. Check it out here.
