Leadership Montgomery County Class of 2018 learns about economic development

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- The Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) Class of 2018 recently explored economic development in the county at their Economic Development Session. The session was sponsored by long-time supporters of Leadership Montgomery County, The Woodlands Township, with their special Economic Development Partnership with LMC.

Laura Lea Palmer of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership and Danielle Scheiner of the Greater Conroe Economic Development Council served as session directors of the day.

The day began at the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce with the Leadership Development Series, sponsored by Repsol and presented by Chad Patterson. The series was followed by an introduction to economic development by Scheiner and Melissa Bochat of Entergy Texas. The class then boarded a bus for a tour of Galaxy FBO and the U.S. Customs facility.

The class took a driving tour of the Deison Technology Park, Conroe Park North, and Grand Central Park. After lunch and class project discussion at Repsol in The Woodlands, the class heard from an Economic Development Panel that included Fred Welch, Greater Conroe Economic Development Council; Gil Staley, The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership; Frank McCrady, East Montgomery County Improvement District; Tana Ross, City of Magnolia; Shannan Reid, City of Montgomery; Heather Neeley, City of Oak Ridge North; and Nick Wolda, The Woodlands CVB/The Woodlands Township. Following the panel, Kimberly Berriochoa of Repsol, provided a presentation and tour of Repsol.

Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated cultivating the future leaders of Montgomery County. The mission of LMC is to prepare emerging and existing leaders to understand local issues, grow their leadership skills and connect with others to better serve Montgomery County.

The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce, the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber, and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce are all partner Chambers in the LMC program.
