Earth Day GreenUp community cleanup registration opens in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Township is now registering volunteers for the Earth Day GreenUp, a Great American Cleanup event, on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

For the eighth consecutive year, our community is participating in the nationwide stewardship project.

Neighborhoods, clubs, scouts, church groups, schools, families and individuals are invited to join in the cleanup effort that targets litter on pathways, waterways and natural areas.

Registration is available online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/greenup through March 12, 2018. A limited number of trash grabbers will be available for loan to groups that pre- register on the website. Walk-up registration is also welcome on March 24, 2018, at the 8 a.m. check-in at a designated park in each village. All participants will receive gloves, trash bags, instructions and an assigned pick-up area at check-in.

The whole community is invited to the post pick-up party from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Northshore Park, located at 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive in The Woodlands 77381. Activities will include free face painting, education booths and a concert. Pick-up participants will receive free pizza, snacks and soft drinks along with an event T-shirt, while supplies last. Bringing a reusable water bottle is encouraged. There will be a water refilling station. The general public will be able to purchase food items.

The Woodlands Earth Day GreenUp is coordinated by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department with support from The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., Waste Management, WJPA, H-E-B, The Woodlands Development Company and Nature’s Way Resources.

  • Check-in at a designated park: 8 to 10 a.m. — walk-ups welcome
  • GreenUp: 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Celebrate at Northshore Park: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
