THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Arts Council is sponsoring the kick-off event of the Inspire Film Festival, a five-day cinematic experience set for February 15 through 19 at various venues in The Woodlands Town Center.

The “opening night” events include a Shorts Presentation in Waterway Square beginning at 6 pm on Thursday, February 15 and a VIP Party following at the Insperity Theater at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, beginning at 8:30 pm.

The Shorts Presentation is a casual, family friendly outdoor event which is free and open to the public. The evening program will showcase uniquely powerful 5-15 minute documentaries, accompanied by special appearances and performances by the stars and filmmakers. Inspire Film Festival founder Jane Minarovic says, “These are not tiny movies. They are big stories that can be told in a short amount of time.”

“These events will set the stage for five days of awe inspiring documentary films that celebrate the human spirit,” said Deb Spiess, President of the Board of The Woodlands Arts Council. “We are very pleased to partner with Inspire, whose mission is so closely aligned with ours, in bringing this extraordinary arts event to The Woodlands.”

The Woodlands Arts Council is the producer of the annual Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, set for April 7 and 8 in Town Green Park and along The Woodlands Waterway.

The Festival features the original works of over 200 juried artists, complimented by live musical performances on four stages, hands-on children’s arts activities at Artopoly, Student Art Scholarship Exhibition, the Art of Food, a Craft Beer Garden and food and beverages from a variety of popular local restaurants. The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is ranked among the top arts festivals in the country by ArtFair Sourcebook. Tickets are now available for purchase online at www.thewoodlandsartscouncil.org.
