THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Welcome to another week in The Woodlands. It's the kick off to Spring Break. Here's a look at some fun stuff happening around town.

Start out the week hot and smooth with First Monday Java Jazz at the Dosey Doe Big Barn. Joe Burlison's Uptown Jazz band has been jamming out together since 2012. The "improvisational" jazz ensemble is said to be best experienced live, so check it out at 7:30 p.m. Monday March 5, 25911 I-45 North. There's no charge to get in to the Big Barn, but have a few bucks on you for Pass the Hat. Come hungry – the kitchen is open, and end the evening with Dosey Doe's famous coffee.

You don't have to go anywhere near downtown Houston to enjoy amazing art. Visit the Mary Matteson-Parrish Art Gallery at Lone Star College-Montgomery, Building D, 3200 College Park Drive, for new installations every month. Magnolia by Morning featuring photographer Eric Adams kicks off with a free opening reception at noon on Tuesday March 6. Through photos, Adams tells a story about growing up on land he calls "The Acre."

Dairy Queen hosts Family Night every Wednesday night when kids 12 and under eat free with any regular price combo meal purchase. As if that's not cool enough, you can now end the meal with chocolate soft ice cream, a classic that's been missing from the menu for many years but is now back! Bring the family 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday March 7, 2300 Buckthorne Place.

Spring is in the air, and that means a whole lot of fun and festivals in The Woodlands. Arts in the Park is back for its 10th year at Rob Fleming Park in Creekside Village 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday March 10. This free event, produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, features more than 30 local vendors selling handmade items and artwork. Live music includes performances by Sha Davis, The Woodlands Boys Choir, Moriah Davis School of the Arts, Creekside Forest Elementary Choir and more. There will be arts and crafts, inflatables and face painting for the kiddos. All you have to do is bring your lawn chair and cooler. Concessions are available to purchase food.

The 16th Annual Spring Home and Garden Show is slated for 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday March 10, and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday March 11 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel. The show features the newest, trendiest and most innovative products for your home and garden, all under one roof. With a robust lineup of exhibitor and speakers, you're sure to find something to spruce up your home this spring. Visit www.woodlandsshows.com for the full schedule, and a $2 coupon.
