MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- It is time to start thinking about keeping your kids busy this summer. Sending your children to Discovery College at Lone Star College-Montgomery is a great way to combat the “summer brain drain” and your kids will have so much fun, they won’t even realize they are learning!

Discovery College is a cost-effective, fun and enriching program for seven to 14-year- olds this summer. One-week sessions take place Monday through Thursday beginning Monday, June 11 – 28 and July 9 – 12 from 1-5 p.m. at the LSC-Montgomery campus. Sessions start at $115.

“At Lone Star College we understand summer camp is not just about fun or skill building it is about inviting and inspiring a child’s development by expanding their world,” said Steve Gorman Continuing Education program manager.

All sessions are available, sign up now before your first choice reaches capacity. Sessions like Robotics, LEGO® Engineering, Junior Veterinarian, Girls Night Out, Digital World of Photography and much more will keep your children in academic shape for when they get back to school.

Other unique sessions include Solar Systems and Space, Clay and Sculpture and Around the World Art. Each class uses team-building exercises that allow students to develop situational awareness and learn practical life skills. Instructors encourage participation in a variety of subjects for age-appropriate groups. Learning is fun and the relaxed, creative atmosphere allows students to develop new interests in a safe environment.

“Our instructors include local teachers, professional artists, and more,” said Gorman. “They create realistic experiences that impact students’ growth. They know every child is different and they work to showcase their unique personalities. Every year I see the campers learn from the instructors, but I also see the instructors learn from the campers.”
