THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Walking, talking, reading, watching, learning, shopping. We have it all in this week's Top 5 Things to Do.

This first event brings truth to the phrase "talk the talk, walk the walk." Join like-minded folks 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday May 15 at South Regional Library for the Walking Book Club. After a stroll along the Waterway, you'll gather at the library for refreshments and a discussion of the book "Where'd You Go Bernadette?" by Maria Semple. If you don't have time to read the book, come along anyway so you can get ready for the next gathering. Seating is limited, so call 936-422-7727 to reserve your spot. (Editor's note: I read this book, and I loved it.)

The Woodlands Institute for Health & Wellness has helped countless men and women with some of the things that cause us the most confusion: weight, libido, food allergies, nutrition, insomnia and more. Join Dr. Mila McManus for Lunch and Learn at noon Wednesday May 16, 26110 Oak Ridge Drive. Call 281-298-6742 to reserve your seat.

The Woodlands is becoming more and more known for its showcasing of the fine arts. Case in point? The recent opening of Glade Arts Foundation at 2000 Woodlands Parkway. They will present The Woodlands Symphony in collaboration with the works of Houston artist David Adickes Thursday May 17. Wine and hors d'oeuvres served at 6:30 p.m., concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Hurricane season begins June 1. What better time than now to teach your kiddos about weather science? Sign them up for Weather Science theme night, 6:30 p.m. Friday May 18 at Adventure Kids, 2400 FM 1488, Suite 900. A pizza party kicks off the evening. Call 936-271-2259 for details.

Local produce, prepared food, artisan goods. That is, quite simply, how The Woodlands Farmer's Market at Grogan's Mill describes itself. The weekly community event has been going on rain or shine since 2008. Plenty of parking, a plethora of shopping – and you can even bring your dog! Check it out 8 a.m. – noon Saturday May 19 at the Grogan's Mill Shopping Center, 7 Switchbud Place. Profits from the market go toward college scholarships for Conroe ISD students and Citizen Awards.
