Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner position hotly contested in runoff election

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – It's Primary Runoff Election Day in Montgomery County.

County Commissioner Precinct 2 is a hotly contested seat, with incumbent Charlie Riley receiving approximately 43.5 percent of the votes from the March 6 election, and contender Greg Parker receiving approximately 42.9 percent of votes.

"I think it's very important everyone get out and votes because it's such a tight race," Riley said. "I would hope that everyone gets out and does their homework before voting, and votes to keep Montgomery County moving forward like we do and want to continue to do."

Hot topics in the county include constitutional authority in the Commissioner's Court, county-wide mobility, and flood mitigation.

"There will be a lot of work to be done," Parker said in a prepared statement, "but with your help and your vote, we are setting the stage for real change for Precinct 2 and Montgomery County as a whole."

Also up for grabs is County Commissioner Precinct 4. Incumbent Jim Clark is in a runoff against James Metts.

On the Democratic ballot for Texas Governor, it's Andrew White vs. Lupe Valdez.
