THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The heat index has us suffering in triple digits, making plenty of us a little miserable. Cheer up with something to look forward to. Here's our Top 5 Things to Do This Week in The Woodlands.

Get to know the movers and shakers of The Woodlands business community 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday July 24 at Avenida Brazil Churrascaria Steakhouse. Avenida is hosting The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce "Meet the New Members" gathering. The meet and greet reception invites new members of the Chamber to introduce their business to other new and existing members. Register online here.

Your bestie (or beau), plus bubbly, plus blooms – it all adds up to a glorious time at GenuWine. Head on over 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Wednesday July 25 for Glorious Blooms. You'll learn about flower arranging while sipping on champs, and by the end of the evening you will have created a summer centerpiece in a custom vase, which you get to take home. Flowers, vases, aprons and tools are provided. Floral arranging can get a little dirty, so dress accordingly. This event is hosted by Alice's Table and GenuWine Tasting Room. Cost is $65. Need a little pop of color in your home, dorm or office? Create your own original masterpiece, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Thursday July 26 at Pinot's Palette. The theme is "Poppy Prism" and it involves many colors of the spectrum. You don't have to be an artist to create art at Pinot's – staff will lead the way and you'll probably surprise yourself. Cost is $30 per painter. Register here.

If you haven't been to Dosey Doe – The Big Barn for live music, you really should check it out. This gem in The Woodlands has fantastic food, outstanding acoustics and a variety of entertainers. Country music artist (and native Texan) Tracy Byrd is performing Friday July 27. Tickets range from $88 to $148, and include a three-course dinner. Get more details here.

The Woodlands newest Dairy Queen officially opens for business Monday July 23, but the grand opening celebration is set for 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday July 28. Prizes, a balloon artist, face painting, raffles and more. You might even win free food or ice cream once a week for a year.
