THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Hard to believe it's already August. At least we're getting closer to cooler weather! Here's our list of the Top 5 Things to Do This Week in The Woodlands.

How does your garden grow? In Montgomery County, that's a good question, and the answer is: Bountiful, if you get your fall veggies in the ground now. Join Bob Dailey 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 7 at South Regional Library, 2101 Lake Robbins Drive. Bob will teach you how to best lay out your garden and which vegetables grow well in our area. Adults ages 18 and up; walk-ins welcome.

Have you checked out the new and improved Chick-fil-A on FM 1488 in Magnolia? If not, Wednesday Aug. 8 is the perfect time. Local K9 teams will demonstrate the skills they need every day while protecting and serving the Montgomery County community. The first presentation is at 9:15 a.m., and a second presentation is at 10:15 a.m.

Flatland Cavalry takes the stage at Dosey Doe-The Big Barn Thursday Aug. 9. Their Country-Folk-Americana sound is described as "easy on the ears, heavy on the heart." Doors open for dinner at 6:30 p.m.; show time is 8:30 p.m. Get your tix here.

You've been seeing it at all the big-box stores around town: Back to School displays. It's enough to make parents cheer and kiddos cringe, but there's still some summer fun to be had. Head to The Woodlands Children's Museum Friday Aug. 10 and "Shake the Summer Sillies Out." This back-to-school bash features games, live music, art projects and face painting. Here's the schedule:

  • Skeeter the Clown 10:30am, 11:10am and 12:10pm.
  • Tom's Fun Band 1:10pm, 2:40pm and 3:20pm.
  • Ariel The Mermaid Showtimes 12:40pm, 2:10pm and 3pm.
  • Moana Showtimes: 1:40pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm.

Family fun time is on the schedule at Creekside Park Saturday Aug. 11. Grab your kids, friends, blankets and snacks for a big-screen viewing of Despicable Me 3 under the stars. Free! Movie time is 8:30 p.m.
