MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Conroe ISD hired approximately 550 teachers for the 2018-19 school year and welcomed them to the District during the Intro to CISD staff development that took place Monday, July 30, through Wednesday, August 1, at The Woodlands High School. Over the three days, teachers participated in a conference style event that helped them become acquainted with all things CISD. This year, new hires had the assistance of an app to help them plan which of the over 200 sessions they would attend.

The event was not only a time for new teachers to learn about District-focused initiatives and curriculum, but it was also a time for them to meet new colleagues. Throughout the 3-day event, teachers were able to peruse a Classroom Showcase designed to highlight the best instructional practices for all grade levels and contents. Attendees were even treated to instructional demonstrations with groups of students.

A Community Services Fair kicked off the Intro to CISD Conference by providing teachers access to community information all while enjoying a breakfast sponsored by the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE). Principals joined the new teachers for a lunch sponsored by Woodforest Bank later that day.

Community services and organizations participating in the fair include the following: 5Point Credit Union, ATPE, Barnes & Noble, Inc, Big Frog Custom T-Shirts and More, CARS Complete Auto Repair Services, CISD Employee Health and Wellness Center, COSTCO, Davam Urgent Care, Edward Jones, Falacos Food Truck, Glade Arts Foundation, Gold's Gym, Inspired Living Realty Group, Lamar University, Law Office of Jennifer Casey, LIPSTIK Marketing, Lone Star Family Health Center, Mass Mutual Texas Gulf Coast, Montgomery County Women's Center, R Insurance Group LLC, Regions Bank, Richardson Group Realtors, Rodgers Stein Chiropractic Center, USHealth Advisors, and Woodforest National Bank.
