Montgomery County police issue warrant for serial rapist

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for aggravated sexual assault for Jorge Arturo Mar Jr. (H/M) 24 years of age from Houston, Texas.

Mr. Mar was arrested by the Houston Police Department on October 10th, 2018 for aggravated sexual assault and is currently incarcerated in the Harris County Jail. Mr. Mar is suspected of at least 8 sexual assaults from the greater Houston area. Six sexual assaults are in the jurisdiction of the Houston Police Department, one sexual assault in the jurisdiction of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and one sexual assault occurred in the jurisdiction of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 1st, 2018, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an 18 year old black female victim reporting a sexual assault that had occurred in Montgomery County. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and learned that the victim communicated with Mr. Mar through a mobile dating application and agreed to meet. During the meeting, the victim got into Mr. Mar’s vehicle where he produced a knife, held it to her neck, and sexually assaulted her. After the sexual assault, Mr. Mar took the victim back to the meeting location where she was released.

Based on the evidence in this case and the investigation done by all the agencies involved, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was able to secure a warrant for aggravated sexual assault on Mr. Mar with a $500,000 bond.

This is an active investigation involving the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Police Department. Due to the investigations being conducted by the multiple agencies involved we will not be releasing a photo of Mr. Mar at this time as it may hinder the investigations.
