THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Ready to be out and about in our wonderful community? Let us help you get started with this week's Top 5 Things to Do in The Woodlands.

This could be one of the most important local elections for folks to get involved in, as possible incorporation of The Woodlands Township is at the top of the list over the next couple of years. Two positions are challenged on the Township Board of Directors:

  • Position 2: Treva Taglieri and Brian Boniface
  • Position 4: Bruce Rieser and Francis “Frank” Dargavage

Hear what the candidates have to say 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 16 at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, 9320 Lakeside Boulevard.

Here's a good one for you and the kids. Eyeball Cake Pops! Create the creepy cakepop just in time for Halloween parties at Over the Top Cake Supplies, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday Oct. 18. Guests will dip pre-made cakeballs in white chocolate and create fondant decorations and a cocktail fork to complete tasty confections. Each student will complete 6 cakepops to take home. Head out to Dosey Doe-The Big Barn for dinner and live music with Allen Shamblin and Steve Seskin Friday Oct. 19. Shamblin is a country music songwriter who grew up in Huffman, TX. He wrote the total tear-jerker song "Don't Laugh at Me" that Mark Wills sang. Look it up and listen if you feel like you need a good cry. His biggest song "I Can't Make You Love Me" was a hit for Bonnie Raitt. He is also a Texas Heritage Songwriters Association Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee.

Steve Seskin's songs have been recorded by Kenny Chesney, Waylon Jennings, Tim McGraw, Colin Raye and many more.

VillaSport Athletic Club is hosting its first ever Family Field Charity Day Noon – 3 p.m. Saturday Oct. 20. Proceeds with benefit CHI St. Luke's Hospital The Woodlands, who does not turn patients away regardless of insurance. There will be bounce castles, obstacle races, inflatable games, photo booth, crafts, face painting, and beverages and food available for purchase. Tickets available at the event.
